Uber doesn’t own cars. It doesn’t have drivers as employees. In cities like Mumbai, it’s on surge pricing 24/7. Even in my home town Pune, it’s on surge every evening / night. I haven’t got a single penny in discount from Uber for at least the past 3 years. It has slashed driver incentives during the last year. It’s known to take a, how shall we put it, flexible / aggressive approach with regulations in many parts of the world. It’s amazing how it still makes losses. Its IPO filing documents say it may never make a profit. Still it’s worth several tens of billions of dollars. Uber surely merits a special place in the business world. There’s no company like Uber.
