Depends on the definition.

If Cold Call is defined, as some people do, as “dialing a list of people you know nothing about”, then:

Cold Calling died ages ago. In fact, I doubt if it ever lived. At least in my field of B2B technology, when an SDR calls someone, s/he knows the name of the person, company name, title /designation, the board / direct telephone #, country, industry vertical. That’s how it has been since times immemorial. An SDR never ever called people s/he knew nothing about. So, we never ever did Cold Calling, by that definition.

But I don’t use that definition. The way I define it, a Call is a Cold Call when the *recipient* of the call knows nothing about the Caller. By that definition,

Cold Calling is very much alive and kicking and I can bet it won’t die for the forseeable future, certainly not in 5 years.
