Can’t the debit card and credit card be merged together with technology taking the next notch and I select which option to use?*

Credit Card offers rewards, deferred payment, fraud protection and so many benefits over Debit Card and A2A RTPs like UPI. Therefore, I don’t see any reason to use a debit card or an A2A RTP when I can use a credit card. In over 35 years of using credit cards countless times for shopping, I haven’t used a debit card even once at the point of sale. More at

Therefore, personally, I’d have no use for such a “credit card + debit card in one” technology.

But that’s only me.

I know companies who have attempted omnibus payment cards where you can store multiple credit and debit cards on a single plastic card and use whichever card you want for a given payment e.g. COIN. It shut down apparently because it could not overcome the challenges surrounding the manufacturing and quality of such a card.

I’ve also heard of another similar product called CURVE. I don’t know how it’s doing since I’m not tracking this space too much.
