Is it legal to put a GPS tracker in a package?*
Not legal advice but, if it’s legal to ship a GPS Tracker, I’m guessing it can’t be illegal to put a GPS Tracker in a package. Your courier company should know more.
That said, there are a lot of regulations related to the tracking information supplied by the GPS Tracker as it goes from source to destination. The laws on this tend to vary from one jurisdiction to another.
Again not legal advice but, depending on the jurisdiction:
- You can track both the package and human carrier of the package without any restrictions
- You can track the package, and also the carrier provided you don’t know the identity of the carrier
- You can only track the package but not the carrier whether or not you know their identity.
*: This is the original question I answered. I’m repeating it to help me make sense of my answer in case it’s moved to / merged with some other question that I didn’t answer.
