How do I view what payment method was used for a PayPal transaction?*

Well, the payment method used for a PayPal transaction is PayPal.

While the default funding source for a PayPal transaction is the PayPal Account / Wallet, it’s also possible to fund a PayPal transaction directly from a Credit Card, etc. In fact, to pay a merchant that uses PayPal to collect payments, the Payor does not even need a PayPal account.

In case you want to know the funding source used for a given PayPal transaction, follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your PayPal account
  2. Click Transactions
  3. Click the said transaction
  4. Scroll down to the Funding details section
  5. Read off the Funding Type and Funding Source.

That’s it.

For example, the funding source used for my recent payment to THE GUARDIAN is VISA Credit Card ending in 7280.
