My POV: The pandemic has killed the coworking model. I have worked in offices of my own employers, at coworking spaces and from home. All three workplace formats have their own pros and cons. The pandemic has not changed that. For example, it’s still better to conduct meetings face-to-face in a number of scenarios in sales, marketing, strategy, brain storming, recruiting, and so on, than via video conference. But the pandemic has introduced one new con for coworking model: Health hazard caused by following factors: (1) Office layout does not permit 6 or even 3 feet physical distancing (2) Occupants belong to multiple companies, impossible to verify where they have gone around, whether they have observed physical distancing during their local and long distance travels (3) Central AC is a big source of spread of virus. In many countries, if you have a flu, you’re encouraged to stay home lest you come to office and spread it to your coworkers via central AC or central heating systems. This will become obvious in India now, amidst heightened concerns about virus and spread.
